Photo Essay- ( FOOD )

This picture shows a stall selling alot of different kinds of food. You can pick any kind and owner will fry it which is very interesting. You wont get to see this in Singapore. All this are freshly deep fry for you.

Here is other stall using different method. The seller barbeque for you. The process is that he will barbeque and put on alot of seasoner with alot of chilli oil. While compare to Singapore, we normally marinate the food before we barbeque it.

This picture of fried rice looks delicious but do not be decieved by the looks. The amount of oil and salt hey add in to fry was really alot. You maybe wondering if their oil and saltare free!

One example on how they fry their fried rice with their hands! Bet their hands are very hot and painful as they endure the heat and sizzling.

This picture was taken at night where they dispose their leftover food and paper bowls. Incredible dirty and the amount will just keep on increasing. With the stink and rubbish, you dare not go near it.

You may have got to all kind of fast food resturant, but this is very different. In China, you get to see Chinese and English signbroad with very interesting names on it.

We normally have drinks in can or in plastic bottles. In China, we usually get drinks in glass bottles with Chinese word on it.

Here is one picture that he make the noodle on the spot and serve hot to you.

We usually get this kind of bread in China. In Singapore, we hardly can get this kind of bread with flavours.

This cucumber dish was served. Though it looks very yummy and delicious but it was very oily!

This is how they kept their rice before being serve to customers.

In China, they like to serve in very large portion where as in Singapore they like serve in very small portion. This is one of the example shown in picture where the bowl contains about 40+ fishballs.

This is some of the sauces they used to served customers. As you can see, they made use of plastic water bottles maybe they want to recycle.

You will be suprised to hear this. This picture shows that they serve passion fruit juice in HOT! There is cold too. In contrast, Singapore doesn't have juice serving in HOT.

This is how they normally serve us rice and we have to scoop it ourselve where as in local, we will be serve rice individually.

This is how they set up their stall and sell thier food like this in this picture.

This is one alternative method on how to fry the dumlings. We normally deep fry dumplings in Singapore.

Pardon their English in China as you can see in this picture that the word should be "meat" not "meet".

This picture shows a Chinese ramen noodles. It is very common in China; can be found anywhere.

This is one very bad example that after they ate their food, they just litter as and when they like. In Singapore, we hardly find any uncivilization action out there.

Day 41 13/04/09

Sadly this was our last day in Wuhan. Though all of us wanted to go back home badly but we also sort of have the feelings we had in Wuhan. Memories of happiness, sadness, the stress we had and the days with my buddies. We woke up at 12 and do a final touch up as we don’t want to pack our luggage at the very last minute. I had too many things to stuff in my luggage and ended up Nick, Kenneth and shu gen brainstorming and redo my packing of luggage.

Around 1pm, we went out near school to get our friend’s presents. After shopping, we went to help Ben to carry the drinks and snack for the closing ceremony. At 3 pm we went to take a group photo at outside of our campus. We took many idiotic shots, as this will be the last time taking group photos together in WUST. After that, about 5pm we went to foreign language school to have our closing ceremony. We had did some final interacting with the students, and took photos with them as a memory in Wuhan. In addition, we also played games and dance with them too. And I am the one who was been sabotage by my friends and got to go up the stage to dance with them. Well since it would be the last time here in Wuhan, well might as will be supportive right?! Haha.. I bet all of us will miss one another when leave the place.

Mr Ma and Mr Ann gave final last speech to us and farewells. At that point of time, I can really felt that my days in Wuhan were really ending and really miss every single thing at there! We then headed out to watch the firework display held at open space between the foreign language school and Business school. Well… I did played a lot of fire crackers but I realised this was different from what I used to play. After awhile, I knew it. It was because I am playing with my best friends and with my teachers. I really appreciate what Mr ma and Mr chua that really guide us and bring us enjoyment this period of time. Time really flies fast. When i was first week in wuhan, I told myself that oh man… China!? I prefer Singapore man. But now, I couldn’t bear to leave China, maybe you will get to understand me if you got to stay there for 6 weeks,
AND!!! With a bunch of best friends! (Gay friends forever man!!! To Shugen, Jia Hui, Kenneth, Nicki, Stefen, Jit Shiong, Ernest and Ben!) Not only that I had made a lot of very funny and good friends like Xin rong, Zhi hui , Chewy and others!

Anyway, I can’t wait to get back Singapore to see my grandmother and my family man! So miss them! Well… This trip, seriously, it was the best trip so far in my life man!

Day 40 12/04/09

This will be the last day of my journal, but sadly today I didn’t went out much but still I will talk what I did today. Wake up late in the morning as i didn’t go Lu Xiang. Kenneth and others will there but I didn’t as I want to control my financial assets and I need to do journal.

At 3pm, I went to eat as not that hungry. After eating, went back to bunk and rest till night. I was waiting for the fireworks tonight but as the weather condition was raining cats and dogs, sadly but to change the fireworks programme to tomorrow.
So at night, we bought a lot of drinks and tibits, stay out till the next morning.
By 4am, a lot of people were tired. Xin rong got tired and went up to Ben's room to sleep. Dave, chewy and others fall asleep half way through. Only shugen, Kenneth, stefen, Nicki, Ernest and I talk a lot of topics and even question one another questions that can’t be explain. There is a question keep make me wondering for awhile. Why are we born here in this world? We also talk about religions about how realistic and how unrealistic is it. Some doubt their own religion and some talk about how they feel. Well, through this I really get to know all my friends very well and it is a very good way of expressing things out.

Day 39 11/04/09

This morning, after we ate in school we went to yellow crane tower area there to shop. We have 10 people. Shew Bo, Ben, Kenneth, Shugen, Zhi hui, Chewy, Xin rong, Jit Shiong, Ernest and me. Zhi hui, Chewy, Ben and Xin Rong took a cab while the others and me took a min van.
Here comes the show of the day! The driver says 80rmb to the place and so we accepted the deal and he drove us there. Half way through there, the driver drove a small path which was 1 way only with only 1 lane. Suddenly there was a car drove opposite our direction and both vehicles stop there. The car owner shout out loud say shift back and he insisted. Our driver was kind hearted and actually wanted to drove the van backward but there were lots of cars behind the van. Ended up all the cars behind our van walked out of their cars and started scolding the car owner. At 15minutes later, the car owner finally decided to reverse the car and allow all the vehicles to pass. At this moment, when our van slowly drove out the car reverse and bang the van. This time, our driver was really pissed off by the action done by the car driver. So my driver get down and confronted the car driver. It was the car drive fault but he insisted that is not his fault and not to pay money for the scratch. The van driver was pissed off and got a spanner from the van and hit him. That moment, the tension was very nervous. At this time, the van driver told us politely that this situation will take awhile, and requested us to get another van. He says that the China police is not efficiency, will take quite while to settle this situation. We ask how should we pay him then, he say no need, he doesn’t want to give us a bad day.
We told him it is ok and gave him 50rmb as we felt that it was not his fault to cause this problem. We took another cab to destination and cost 10rmb.
We shop awhile and I bought a purse for my grandma, for her to use it in market.
I also made a photo frames at there and have to collect it on Monday. In Singapore, the frame cost me about SIN$60 for one while here only cost me 30rmb! Worth a lot! In here, the shops can mostly bargain while in Singapore can’t. About 3pm, we went to eat the Tang Bao and went back to school to rest as there will be fireworks tonight.

In evening, Mr ma told us fireworks changed to tomorrow due to the rain. So I and the others went to outside to get the t shirt brand “playboy” and go back to bunk to do our journals.
Today, I get to know that China people are generally unreasonable due to one situation i had encountered today. And they like to blames others but it was actually his fault.

Day 38 10/04/09

We woke up this morning 9.45am as planned and when to canteen 2 to eat. Save some money for shopping so have to be budget. We took the public bus to IT mall as we thought of getting more MP4 for our relatives and friends. After we reached there, we realised that the road stalls outside the mall wasn’t open. After checking with the locals, it only opens in the Saturday and Sunday. HOW SAD! So we decided to try searching it in the malls. How surprise!
We found the Ipod but after long decisions we bought back the mp4 we had, as the fake Ipod is very lousy. No wonder it is made it China.

Then we took cab to Han kou to shop for more stuff! I ended up bought 2 umbrellas, 1 dress for my sister, 2 clothes and 1 pair of shoe! Oh ya.. I happened to see this scene. There was a sport shop where all the sales people gather outside the shop. They do briefing outside the shop, and after that they end with a JIA YOU mean they will work hard to pull up the sales. I also bought some souvenirs for my friends. You will be wondering why I bought 2 umbrellas right? Their design of the outer umbrella is actually a wine bottle, very creative!

At night, we went back to school to have our dinner, and went back to do our IS project.

Day 37 9/04/09

Wake up late this morning, as usual went to canteen 2 to eat. After that, we went to foreign language school to have our mini project interview. After we reached, one by one all of us present our project; explain how it works and the usefulness to it. We also show our Lab 7 as we haven’t shown it to Mr ma. After the interview, we asked how Mr Ma’s leg is, hopefully he can recover fast and advised him again not to drink beer or eat beans stuff. Then we head back to our bunk to do our IS individual assignment till evening.

At night, all of us started to do our IS project. Quite stress up as the topic isn’t that easy as i thought. About 12 odd, Shugen fall asleep while doing, next Kenneth and Jia hui. So we continue it tomorrow.

Thursday 9 April 2009

Assignment 4: Individual Report - 15%

I have achieved what I set out to learn and discover during this period in Wuhan to a large extent. There are a lot of factors that actually helped me achieve my objectives.

Firstly in this trip, there were a lot of outings that bring us to different places. One of them is the metal steel factory on how they produce steel. Normally the industry doesn’t allow unauthorised people to go in. We manage to get in as the school negotiated with them. Other than that, we also visited the company of Yangtze Optical fibre. Not only that, the duration in China, I discover a lot of their style, their life in China. Our teachers also helped us achieve our objectives.

Some obstacle that I face was the food. Though the food was good but the amount of salt, the oil was a lot more than I expected to be. In order to prevent sickness, I drink a lot of water. And there is another obstacle that is I doesn’t know how to wash my clothes, till i learn from my friends on how to wash clothes to overcome my obstacle.

I have learned a lot of things. As told that I went to the company of Yangtze Optical fibre, I have learned the process of how they made the fibres. The 3 stages are first is to clean the glass rod, second is to melt the glass to form glass wire and being coated twice of special chemical. Thirdly, is to have the product inspect session.

After visiting some scenic places like the museum, Wudang shan , yellow crane tower. I learned a lot of the great history of China, like the romance of the 3 kingdom.
I also have lesson that introduce Chinese traditional thoughts, and the Feng Shui lesson. It was very interesting as I can understand what the Chinese are thinking, the way of doing things. I have learnt some feng shui like the bed shouldn’t face directly in front of the door which is a bad feng shui.

For shopping, while I was shopping in Wuhan, I realised that international brand is expensive than local. And for their own brand like 361 degrees, peak etc are much cheaper a lot. And have a lot of roadsides stalls at night. They also sell puppies at roadsides and you can either cook it or adopt it. Compare to Singapore, it was way too different. In Singapore, you are aware of not to litter etc. Over in China, people just split saliva on the floor, litter anywhere everywhere. In shopping mall, citizens were told not to smoke in there but nobody bother to care the sign broad and smoke inconsiderate.

After I reviewed the questions i framed, I have found most of the answers in China. Firstly, I had understand on how the style of life they live, the standard of living. Did an observation on how they make their deals and how they communicate. Secondly, after boarded the cruise, and visited the 3 gorges dam. I get to know their technology and those magnificent structures which they created. It can manipulate the water level and produce mass electricity current. Thirdly, I get to know the lifestyle in China. And their daylight end earlier than Singapore. At 7pm it is completely dark. Went to their IT mall and explore. Their IT mall are a lot much bigger than Sim lim. Regardless inside the shopping mall or outside at the roadside, everywhere they sells electronic stuff. Forth, after I stayed in China, I can understand how bad the pollution they made, like black thick smokes out from the car’s exhaust pipe. Now i can understand why China is rank first that release most carbon dioxide.
Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get to see a lot of their martial arts through i heard China are very famous in it. One area I got to see was only at the Wudang Shan which was nothing much.

After I attend the China’s lecture on Business negotiation, business etiquette, Business strategy, I understand a lot of things and will use it in future. I can practice these skills as so ijn future i can use it to deal with client easily.

I truly understand the cross cultural issues the difference of both country Singapore and China.
China has a lot of areas that need to improve like corruption unlike Singapore. Singapore has some areas that can also learn which was like how they preserve the history of past, the culture, uses natural resources to produce electricity current.

Wake up late in the morning, went to canteen 2 to eat lunch. Then I went to the school beside to get a spectacle cost me 106rmb just the frame with degree. Well… it is considering cheap compare in Singapore which cost about S$70++.

Then we went back to bunk to do our IS self assignment. It took me quite awhile to do as I am not using my brain well. Anyway most of us fall asleep in the afternoon as we were tired and lazy.

At 5pm, was awake by shu gen and we went to the club to play table tennis. Well… We had some fun over there. Oh… also, I went to do 5 minutes exercise in the gym! After gym, we went to canteen 2 to eat as shugen and I still not fit to eat oily food. After canteen 2, we went outside of the school to get tian yuan. About 10balls for 2rmB!!!! CHEAP! CHEAP!

Day 35 7/04/09

All of us woke up at 7.30, as we had some adventure programme or should have said as bonding session. We were late by 10 minutes the time we reached. Ben was angry as all of us were late and as Mr chua wasn’t happy with our actions. Mr chua also said that in the outside world, China people and India country are invading our country for our jobs. We can see our country is in chaos. If have a Chinese or India boss, must not be late and have to be double hardworking. If late by 5 minutes, you get fired!

We played some bonding games with our own ECE division while waiting for the MDE division people to come.

After they arrived, we quickly split into teams of 4, and played a game called roller tank. Through my team got 2nd in place, I realize that with great team work lead to success. Success not only comes with teamwork, but also brainstorming together, put all the ideas together.

After the games, it’s time for lunch!!!! We lead the MDE division to eat fishballs soup as the area is famous for fishballs. After eating fishballs, I quickly go back to bunk and rest as I felt abit of unwell again so in the afternoon session, so I didn’t go for the afternoon session. Well... SO hope to go but illness stop me.

At night, I tried and complete my project, and rest a lot at night as still have a bit of sick.

Tuesday 7 April 2009

Day 34 6/04/09

Well, today I had APPG remedial lesson in the morning at 10am taught by Mr chua. Well I recalled back as Mr chua revised through with us. In the afternoon, my sickness was still carried on without fail, got no choice but to buy bread. Went to canteen 2 to eat, when Mr chua told me it is not good to eat bread when sick so I went to ordered noodles with soup. As Mr chua said that scientist had proven that if eat/drink minl products, will happen to produce more mucus. That is why I took that advice.

After lunch, we head back to bunk. I took this chance and sleep again as I felt very dizzy. The others played their usual computer games. At 2, we go back to foreign language school to have our lesson. Mr chua go through the past year paper. I understand what Mr chua says, but the moment I looked at the paper, I don’t know how to start with it.

At night, I started doing my journals as I was sick the last few days till now, I haven’t really do my journal. Then after my journals, it is time to study for my APPG.

About 10.15pm, Ben came into our bunk and told us Mr ma injured his leg and was in our nearby hospital for treatment. I myself was quite worried for him, so I decided to accompany Ben to the hospital to fetch him. Shu gen, Jia hui and Kenneth came along as they also quite worry for Mr ma. After we reached the hospital, I was shocked to see Mr ma leg was so swollen. He told us that his leg was much more painful just now.

The nurse told us that we had to wait for an hour, so we go nearby shops to buy bread and chat chit outside the hospital as we doesn’t want the hospital to be noisy. Mr ma also told us that he have this illness so he can’t drink beer or eat beans too much else will have the effect.

After all of us guided Mr ma back to bunk, I was worried that he doesn’t have any food to eat in the room as with the condition he had, it will be quite difficult for him to go down get food so I brought cup noodles to Mr ma but I only have TOM YAM, hopefully he can take it.

Day 33 5/04/09

Today we were planning to go to Han kou, Jiang Han Lou. So at we met at 10.30, went to canteen 2 to eat and then took bus to IT mall then change bus again to Han kou. I was sick but they really tempt me to go and they use the KEY WORD “SHOPPING!” I got no choice but to follow! Haha… So after our lunch in school, we took bus 907 to IT mall. After we arrived there, we couldn’t find the bus we wanted, so we split into 2 groups of 4 and took taxi to Han Kou. So nicki, stefen, shugen and I took a taxi. After we cross the bridge, the taxi driver said he doesn’t know where is the place and requested us to get the down the cab and get other cabs.
We were quite pissed off as the taxi driver said he knows how to get there but until we crossed the bridge then he said he wasn’t sure how to get there. So we gave him 25rmb instead of 29.30rmb.We ended up took 2 cab to reached Han kou.

We started to do our shopping and went to a shop called ATM mall, as recommended from Nicki’s friend. Indeed, there were lots of good stuff there and very nice lighters. I bought a shirt. It was not branded, I just like the design.
Then about 4pm, we went to Pizza hut to have pizza. We ended up spend 598rmb as we ordered more than 12 10’inch pizza and we also ordered tuna salad. Well, it was worth it as in Singapore we will not get this kind of price. Then Kenneth, jia hui, stefen and Ben go back to school first as they were tired. I wanted to go back but I wasn’t satisfied with my shopping. So continue shop with Shugen, Nicki and Jit shiong till 8 plus.

Then we went to a restaurant where it was inside the one of the shopping mall. It was a western restaurant so I ordered a steak with combination of pork that comes with spaghetti, soup and red wine.It cost my meal 68rmb only!!!!! Was very wroth it man!

The ambiance of the restaurant is very good, very suitable for couples or friends gathering. The food there was very cheap! After the dinner, we were very tired of shopping so we head straight home by taking cab back.

That night, I am very sick and I still took 80% cooked steak with wine… whoo! I reached bunk, head straight to bathe and sleep while the others went up to ernest room to celebrate ernest mum birthday and eat the cake!

Day 32 4/04/09

Saturday got no class, free an easy day. Last night, I played counter strike with the others till 1 odd. Sort of Bonding Sessions! But some of them played to late night like 3 plus 4. So all of us woke up late about 12 plus. Brushed our teeth, bathed and went out for lunch at canteen 2 with my usual group. After lunch, we went out to school nearby to collect Nick’s & Shugen’s clothes as they bought their clothes for dry-clean.
Then we went to nearby super mart to buy some herbal tea and herbal sweets for sore throats as I’m sick quite badly and others too. Shugen and me bought some medicine for our grandma as we are being told to do so. Lastly we bought some bread before heading back to dorm to rest.
At night after dinner, Nicki and the others bought their ice creams. I was sick but I am so tempted, so I ended up getting ice cream too! Haha…I was lying to myself that it was alright to get one. At night while it was time to sleep, I finally felt the effect. I felt damn cold and hot, so sick…

Well today we did nothing much, just a relaxing day for us. I now I realized that if you are sick or what, never try to be nerve to try ice cream or anything oily. And I still have fried rice for dinner! Argh!!! Oh ya… by the way, generally their service here are no good at all.
As I was asking which medicine is for spraying and rubbing, she just shouted and said want to buy then buy, then ask so many stupid questions. And after I bought 4 bottles, she threw the money on the table!

Friday 3 April 2009

Day 31 3/04/09

This morning we had APPG lesson in 9am.Mr ma went through the theory test paper. While going through the paper, I realized that I had a lot of mistakes. After that, Mr Ma gave back our test paper. Well… Guess what?! I am the hot star in the class man!
So called “HOT STAR” as I got the least marks in it and I failed very badly. Well… just got to blame myself for not studying. This really did an impact of me. Well after I saw Yalun score 90 yet he depressed as his didn’t scored well. I am wondering…I scored much lower than him but yet I think it was OK. Hmmm… At this moment of time, I did some reflection and came out a solution .I’m not serious in my work! But what was done cannot be undone. So I’m going to ask Mr Chua for help and I will have remedial on Monday.

After lunch and went back to bunk as afternoon all of us don’t have any lessons. My friends were playing counter strike but I took this chance to sleep as I will have remedial with Mr Chua later on.
At 2pm, I went to Mr Chua office to attend my solo remedial. Well… It was hard to go through with a LOW IQ, EQ etc so I bet Mr Chua had a hard time with me. But still he carries on to HOLD THE LINE! Till I got to understand until chapter 6 .
In that process of learning, I got to learn a lot of valuable lecture from Mr Chua.

He said, “ Some things are meant to be like this. You can’t change just because you like. You just have to accept the fact!” Well somehow I didn’t want to get his way of thinking as I still feel that my way of thinking is correct till he asked me “ why alphabet A is A?”

I said “Because it is meant to be A!” without thinking much. Then I realize what he was trying to divert me. He still said this to me, not asking me to love programming as I said I hate programming, but to take it as if I just have to accept it. He then said, neutralize it then hate it.
I tried the methods by using his philosophy and well… it helps a lot. So I try not to have negative view of programming.

At night, I do some of my mini project before I get my sleep. Today I really learned a lot due to my failure of my work! Well… I did learn my mistakes. Hopefully I’m still early to change the course to get better grades. Even I think back at my grade, I felt so pathetic man! Anyway… Good night man!

Thursday 2 April 2009

Day 30 2/04/09

This morning we had our Chinese traditional thought part 2 lecture, which continued from yesterday. Well others may not be really wanted to know more but for me, I just couldn’t wait for it to start man! I was so excited that I kept hurry my friends to walk faster. The lecturer talks about the Zhuang Zi story and his philosophy. There are quite a number of quotes that Zhuang Zi quoted. One of the famous quotes that we can be heard anywhere

He who knows does not speak.
He who speaks does not know.

One example in our life is that understand the conversation before you speak and speak clever. Not to speak without understand. This will prove you not observing enough.
After all the lecturers, I still follow my way of vision. I respect each and every religion though each has different ways of thinking. Born to live, get old and then die. For me this is just a process of how Mother Nature wants it to be. So instead of thinking so many problems or moan for the past, why not let’s enjoy this process and be happy on what we had. Well… Some have their different point of views in this subject. I am not a rich kid, but whenever I got to see someone that needs help or there is charity going on, I will donate without hesitate as I feel that I am happy to be in this state and others may need this money much more important than what we expected. That’s why I do good deeds rather than thinking that I am poor or I need these things a lot. As what I said, it is just my way of view.

In the afternoon, we had another lecturer that talks about Chinese feng shui and traditional wedding. Very Interesting subject as I hardly understand on how the Chinese wedding works. You see! I am a Chinese! Yet I know nothing! Haha… At least now I know the process on how it works like have to prepare a lot of gifts before wedding day.
Gosh… so going to save this presentation so that in future I can view back to use it as reference. We are also been taught on table manners so that in future we have Chinese client or wedding, we won’t do something embarrassed like put the chopsticks uneven or point anything using chopsticks! Weird uh!? You won’t get to know in our daily life as we won’t bother about it. Now is time for us to practice good habits!

For the feng Shui, I felt that it is some difficult to understand as it still need to based on the elements of astronomy, astrology, geology, physics, mathematics, philosophy, psychology and intuition. Well… I think I have to adjust my bed as I heard from the lecturer said that it is a bad feng shui to face the door. And talk about crystals, I will get some and place it in living room and my room as what I understand that the crystals can convert energy to good energy to bring us good energy. And no computers, or tv near my bed as it emits radiations.
No wonder my dad insist me not to get a tv in my room. Lastly, what I am going to do in order to bring wealth is to tie some ancient old coins together and place it together with my dad’s invoice or anything that brings in finance to you like bank book.
After hearing all these, sounds very interesting right!? This is one thing I like about IS modules is that I get to learn interesting topics.Espically I come to China, I just want more IS modules man!

Day 29 1/04/09

1 of April! Finally… another 13 days to fly back Singapore. Well… I am used to Wuhan now but I still want to get back as soon as possible as I miss my family especially my grandma. I miss the freshness air in Singapore, the climate of Singapore!

Back to realistic world! We had lecture lesson taught by the director which he talks about the Chinese traditional thoughts. I felt that this was a very fresh topic to me as I hardly got to know Chinese traditional thoughts. Normally what I had already known was the art of war and romance of three kingdoms that were both read from book. I played a game warrior orochi that have a lot of characters. Characters of all the 3 kingdoms Wu , Shu and Wei. It also includes Daji which the lecturer said that she was a cunning girl. At first, I didn’t know who Daji was till the lecturer explains as all I know were those famous character like Liu bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Cao cao, Zuo Ci, Zhou Yu etc.

This! I had to say it is very meaningful and I find it very realistic and true. It was the 8 words that represent Chinese national spirit and national character, which are Loyalty, piety, Humaneness, love, Faithfulness, righteousness, Peace, harmony. I felt that this is what a basic key focus that a person should have in heart. Another paragraph that I copied from slides and pasted it so to show you guys.[ When traveling in company of two other people, I could find my teachers. I would learn from their good points and guard against their bad ones. ] From my point of view, for me it is like I will get to learn good morals, extent my knowledge by going deep into China history.

Well, I think that to some extent that ren( 仁)can solve our social problems. It’s true that Ren in some ways can solve our social problems like to be show benevolence towards people. However, I felt that filial, loyalty to one's true nature is also important to a person. I also believe that it is true that to believe in Confucianism, Taoism, Mohism, but it is still up to yourself that which path you want to take, the right or wrong side; the pure or the darkness, it is up to us. For me, I will always do what I feel is the right path to do.
At night, I started doing my mini project as I told myself that if I keep telling myself do it tomorrow, it will never happen. At least I tried to do some to prevent things pile up.
I scheduled my study plan so that I will not feel the stress. Alright! Time for me to do my mini project!

RIGHT PATH! =)

Day 28 31/03/09

Today, Mr Ma go through last chapter 7. As per normal, we were in the lesson trying to understand the topic. But still after the lesson over, I still couldn’t understand it. I wonder why man! Maybe I am a slow learner in the class. After lesson, We head straight to canteen to have lunch. On our way, we saw some university students selling soft toys, notebooks, keychains, dresses etc. It is like the same as our school that want to promote their product. The difference is our school is much better, products will be place on the table unlike the China students put their products on the mat which was on the floor.

In the afternoon, we were struggling to do our lab 7.Quite difficult. Ended up, all of us couldn’t complete. So we planned to do it at night.

Reflection

After I couldn’t understand Lab 7, I did some reflection. And I come to a conclusion. I have to really read through and understand what tutorial 5 6 7 explains about. So I started study at night. Hopefully I Can at least understand something.

Monday 30 March 2009

Day 27 30/03/09

This morning lesson starts at 10am. I tried canteen 1’s (Jah Jian Mian). It was not as oily as canteen 1. As usual, after having our lunch, we head to foreign language school to have our lesson. We were told to complete Lab 6 by today. At first, I thought well… it should be ok. But I didn’t realize the Lab 6 part B I am struggling in doing it. In the afternoon, we had to complete our tutorial 6 and start doing lab 6. We knew it that we couldn’t finish all at once. So we decided to have dinner first then go back to our bunk and do.
At night, my group gathered in the living room doing the lab together. We were very frustrated as the programming kept appeared to have error. After struggling for 4 hours, I left one error that I still couldn’t solve. So I thought tomorrow I have to ask Mr. Ma regarding that error.

Reflection
Lab 6 was a very difficult programming to do. But still I realize that if at least I do put in an effort to do, I might manage to complete it. At least I did try to do.

Day 26 29/03/09

Today was a free and easy day. We woke up at 9.45 am. I do some exercises, bathed and went out to canteen 2 with friends to have lunch. After our lunch which was around 11.15, we head to Wuhan IT mall. We went there shop around, found out that their local product mp4 not bad, consist of a lot of functions, so we started bargain. Ended up using my technique, walk off and look for a better price. We keep asking for lower price than other shops that we asked. We ended up bought 7 mp4 which cost us each 235rmb. We also bought screen protector again as it is cheap! Ernest bought his tripod stand for camera which cost him 500rmb!!!! He intended to sell it off with a much higher price that cost price. After we are done shopping, we head back to our bunk to rest as there would be bbq in the evening.
In evening, we went to the cultural village park near our school to have bbq. There were 5 pits. We were being separated to different pits. My group took about almost 2hours to start out the charcoal to warm, while others started to barbequing their food. After we set up, we also enjoyed barbequed the food.

Reflection
In IT mall, I can bargain which I feel that the price can be lowered. But in Sim lim, I hardly get to bargain. In the mall, people just smoke inconsiderately though it is prohibited to smoke in the mall. They just feel that other people are none of their concern.
Their way of barbeque is very different from us. They doesn’t use wire net while local use it to barbeque. This will make us a little tiring to barbeque as we have to hold the satay sticks instead of placing it on the wire net. Secondly, the food of barbeque is also very unique, they barbeque bonjour, tofu and cucumber,(man tou) bun. While in local, we mostly cook seafood, satay meat. It was a very different experienced to have and their spice on the satay meat is very unique, they put powder , honey and oil to barbeque it.

Saturday 28 March 2009

Day 25 28/03/09

This morning, we went to wuhan jiang han park to visit the park over the area. But due to the bad climate, which was raining non-stop. We had no choice, but to change it to jiang han pu xing jie to shop. Their shops over that area is quite branded like nike, adidias, their local brands like 361 degrees, semir etc. I ended up bought 1 long sleeve shirt over there. At 3pm, we had to report back to the wuhan jiang han park and head back to school. During half way, some of us suggested to go nearby yellow crane tower to shop as we heard that area sold a lot of counterfeit brands products. I ended up bought a ported bag which normally in Jap they sold (sin 380). And I bought a gucci belt, and a music box.
At night, we went to nearby the road stall food to eat. The soup bun was really delicious compared to our school nearby shop.

Reflection
I realized that China have their very own fast food restaurant like Dicos. Their food prices are about the same compare to Singapore. But I realized that their quantities are not as much as local.
Due to their temperature, it is not very accurate. So I will make a point that I have to wear extra coat or extra windbreaker as Wuhan is a inland country. The temperature is unpredictable.
The tour guide that in general , han kou girl’s will be more talkative as in 70’s as in order to make business, they have to use their voice to shout. For wuchang han yang girls, they are much gentle.

Day 24 27/03/09

This morning, we went to Yangtze Optical fibre and Cable Company. It was China largest industry plant for processing optical fibre and cable. Second in place as first is in United States. They have 3 types of process. First is to clean the glass rod, second is to melt the glass to form glass wire and being coated twice of special chemical. Thirdly, is to have the product inspect session. After our trip, we went back to our bunk to study our test.
In the afternoon, we had our theory lab test. I was a bit blank in my mind as I feel the test paper is a bit different from the last semester. As it was raining, we had no choice but to stay in our bunk and play poker.

Reflection

I had gain a lot of knowledge from the company of Yangtze Optical fibre. Thanks to our interpreter Mr Chua. Without him, I can hardly understand how it process does.

Day 23 26/03/09

This morning we had you tai and dim sum as breakfast, normal routine. We went to lesson after that, then realise Mr Ma hurt his leg, was a bit worried. But we still continue our lesson conducted by Mr Chua. In the afternoon, we do the past year paper on APPG that was issued by Mr Ma. Mr ma go through the paper after we tried our attempt.

Reflection
APPG requires more practice not just by reading through the programmes will do.

Thursday 26 March 2009

Day 22 25/03/09

We had APPG in the morning and we had to submit lab 5 tutorial. And after that, we had to do our Lab 5. At first, we were struggling on how to do, but lastly we manage to do it. On our way back to our bunk, we went to canteen 3 to take a look at their privated CDs. After some of my friends bought some CDs, we tried walk another route back to our bunk. While we were walking, we realised that we were walking uphill. Till the peak of the hill, we saw our bunk. We slowly get down the hill that got to pass through a secondary forest and some construction and finally we reach our bunk! In the evening, we went to a restaurant to eat soup bun etc. Well I finally got to eat soup bun but the taste wasn’t meet up to our standard. At night after having our lunch, we went to the university opposite to get wine, drinks, shampoo etc. Lastly, we went back to bunk and rest.

Reflection
It was a very interesting to try different our stuff like explore different route, though is dangerous but it is worth it to do it.
I realise that some of the international brands in their super mart are quite expensive too.

Day 21 24/03/09

We had an actual lab test at 10.20 am. Well... the lab test was okay but I all of a sudden forgotten how to use the “string”. So I ended up couldn’t complete my programme. Sigh... Well, but I still think that I’m able to pass. In the afternoon, as per normal, we had APPG in the afternoon, in the same classroom. After the lesson, we head to play basketball. Till night, we settle our dinner at canteen 2 and went back to bunk and study.

Reflection
I need to really understand APPG and have to study hard for it as I do not want to waste my trip to here.

Day 20 23/03/09

We had APPG at 10am and in afternoon. The weather today was very bad. Suddenly rain cats and dogs and the wind is so strong that you feel freezing. We did our trail test this afternoon. At night, we went out to eat for dinner and back to bunk to study our test tomorrow.

Reflection
Well compared to 9am timing, I believe that 10am is the best timing for lessons! =)

Day 19 22/03/09

We woke up early today as we have to go up to the peak of the mountain. We packed up our things and check out the hotel. We went back the same restaurant we had yesterday night for breakfast. We settle it quickly and we headed to the mountain. Since we thought it was very tiring to walk up the 1.6 km high mountain, we change our mind and took cable cars. Cost us 95RMB to go up and down the mountain. We started queuing up for the cable cars. The queue was very long, and the tour guide said it might take us 1 and a half hour to get to sit the cable car. When we were queuing, there were some typical China citizens cutting our queues. Worst still, they insert their children right in front of the queue and the parents from the back bit by bit cut the queue and said their children were in front. Some worse, place their grandparents in front in order to cut queue. There was a lady who cut all our queue until she reach Nicki and stefen. As Nicki and stefen were listening to their songs and intentionally ignore the lady, the lady was piss off. With our harsh words, the lady had no choice but to back off. Half way till queuing, we saw a mother helping her daughter to pee on the floor in public. There was another about 5 year old boy shit on the grass that really stunned us. Finally, it was my turn to take the ride. Shugen and I took one cable car up to the mountain. In the mid of the air, the scene was beautiful. The cable car was quite scary as it was very shaky. We reached the peak of the mountain and we explore the place and took quite a number of pictures. There were quite a few of interesting place like the good luck hall, the parents hall etc. On our way back to take cable car, I bought a souvenir for my family. Then we took cable car down the mountain and had dinner before take our bus back to our school. On our way back in bus, we sang songs together as the bus captain play MTV songs for us.

Reflection
Compare Singapore to China, Singapore is much cleaner and cleaner air then China. China’s people doesn’t care how you look at them, they just pee and shit in public, spit saliva on the floor.

Day 18 21/03/09

Today we woke up at 6am for our Wudang trip. As usual, I was awake by my roommate Shugen as his daily routine. We went to the bus and take the back seats. We were so tired that the moment we got up the bus, all of us fall asleep. We were too tired to play in bus. By the time we reach wudang shan area, it was in the late afternoon and we had lunch over there. We want to go toilet after our lunch but the moment we wanted to step in the toilet, we GIVE UP! The toilet was very dark, full of horrible smell, and the floor was filled with water or maybe urine. The urinal was flooded and only the last one was available. After lunch, we head straight to the mountain. There do sell a lot of tai chi swords and other models of swords. It was really beautiful. We visited 2 temples. We had seen a lot of things, gods that are way beyond our imagination. Had dinner back the same restaurant. And we head to our 2 stars hotel. We were quite pleased to sleep a comfortable condition. After we unpack our stuff which were toothbrush and toothpaste, my same gang came into my room and play poker again! Minimum 5 squats, show hand (which is all in)25 squats, losers are to do it as the corridor and count it loud and clear. It was quite spooky to do it outside. Haha... as usual, I ended up doing quite a lot, but I managed to win 3 rounds! Haha... ok! Night!

Reflection
Their toilet are incredible smelly.
It is good to do some exercises every now and then.

Day 17 20/03/09

This morning, the results have released. All of us were very anxious and afraid we might fail our DEL. I expect my DEL to FAIL as I knew I done badly for the paper. What done is done, I can’t change the history. Thus, I bravely entered my ID and my password to login my Npal. Whoo! I passed all modules!!!!!! Well though isn’t good grades but at least I won’t get to repeat my module and waste 6 months for it. This shows the hard work of the last few days! Ha-ha! Next today APPG was to complete Lab 4a & Lab 4b. Used up morning and the afternoon for APPG. After that my group went back to hostel to do our IS presentation on public utilities. As I enforce to do the start of the first few points and do research on the topics. We spend 2 and a half hours and I get to see results. Well...though some points that were found were deleted as off point. At night after briefing, my usual clique comes to my bunk and we play poker again. (Jit shiong, Ben, stefen, Nicki, Kenneth, Shugen, Jia hui and me) As usual, most of us ended up doing more than 20 push ups and 200 crunches. After playing poker, we pack our bags and prepare tomorrow journey to Wu Tan Shan.

Reflection
China’s multi-plug is not reliable as I bought one and was burned off. The outer plastic cover melted. Luckily I spotted early, if not things will turn bad!

Day 16 19/03/09

We had APPG in morning and Afternoon lesson till 5pm. Today was one of the most tiring days. In class, we as usual listen attentively to Mr Ma lecture, and struggling on Lab 4. After our lesson at 5pm, we went to canteen two to eat. Then head straight back to our hostel. I immediately fall asleep. After sleeping for an hour, my roommate woke me up and we started doing on our Lab 4, journey and other assignment.

Reflection
Lab 4 is not easy to understand, must have patient in doing programming. Luckily my friend is able to guide me for Lab 4.

DAY 15 18/03/09

We had business etiquette lesson which was taught by china lecturer name mr Xie. Well… The things that were taught though were quite common sense but still it makes sense! The lesson taught us a lot of very interesting topics. So of them I didn’t even notice that it was not a appropriate act to do. For example if meeting a client, I got to take the worst seat. Offer my client his or her choice, but in no case should my client be facing a mirror or the bathroom or kitchen doors.

For the afternoon, we had IS module again which was to summarise the slides from 1pm to 3pm. All of us were forcing on the summary as after 3 onwards, we will be release since we were heading to the Wuhan IT mall.

We took the public bus transport to there. In bus, we were being pushed around and squeezed to breathe. When we reach there, we head straight to shop! We compared the laptops and other electronics products. We ended up getting 7 laptop screen protector which cost 14RMB.
On our way shopping, there was a sales girl ask where I come from? Which was fine but she kept asking more irrelevant topics like where I study , what’s my mobile number or can I give her my MSN hotmail. I ended up rejected and walked away with Jit shiong. Phew...What a sales girl. After we were done with shopping we went to bus stop to take public bus. But someone suggest why not we take their “Mian Bao Van” (van with 7 seated). We approached the driver and negotiate for the price. He said boldly that in order to reached the university, require 2 and half hour as got to pass a lot of highways etc. We straight away decline the deal and rather take bus back. So we ended up each person paid 2RMB and take public bus back with satisfaction.

Night time, all of us gathered in my room figured out how to paste the screen protector on the screen nicely.

Reflection

Business etiquette lesson is really a valuable lesson to take. Things you thought you might know but fact is that there is a lot of difference kinds of situation I may face in future and i may do wrongly to lead to client having a bad impression on us. I had learnt a lot of skills in this lesson and the business strategy that we got to study the slides and summarise it. It as well taught us 3 main core of negotiation which is claiming value, creating value and overcoming barrier to agreement.

The IT mall is much more different form our Sim Lim square. As it;s like they had 10 sim lim square. You have to walk to mall by mall to find your products. Secondly, they had wide areas of electronics. I can see famous brands like Sony, Samsung and Apple products which are expensive than local. Singapore doesn’t have tax, maybe that’s the difference about it. I bought the screen protector as it is very cheap compare to sim lim. As i work in sim lim, I can have a rough estimation on the price. I realise their style of selling is different from sim lim. They can discount you to 50 % off from the price with negotiation. Sim lim shops won’t discount till that extent. And their sales people are very active and desperate for sales; never slip off any chance.

They also sell their local products (no brand) which is very cheap and sells fake apple products.

Compare to SiM lim, they have good sales people but if only it is well organise as the place is difficult to access. Sim lim is a small mall with compress products all in one mall, easily identify wanted items. I still prefer sim lim as products is easy to find and with warranty assure.

Day 14 17/3/09

We are late for the bus towards the Steel industry. As we are suppose to get on the bus at 7.20 but we were 10mins late! The bus drove to the other university to assemble with the MDE course students and head to the steel industry. We were told to each wear a helmet for safety reasons. We followed the guide that explains how the steel is produce. With walking though the high temperature of path and the deafening noises produce from the huge machines, we could hardly hear anything in the factory. After a walk of 15mins, we were out of the factory. Though it was a short tour guide, I manage to see how the steel is being produce as Mr Chua said that hardly people will get to see this in their life. I appreciate what I saw today. Way back to Wuhan guang chan shopping mall. The journey should be less than 1 and a half hour but the driver was lost during half way. Keep wondering how come he U-turns 2 to 3 times and we ended up enduring our bladder and stomach. After we went to toilets, we head back to school to get our lunch as we thought it might be a good idea to save some cash.
We start our APPG lesson at 3pm. As usual, the lesson was bored but still had to focus in class. Ended at 5pm, went back to our own rooms to complete tutorial 3 as I don’t like to delay my assignment. After we were done, we head out to play basketball! We had dinner at WUST canteen2.At night, stefen, shugen, Kenneth, Jia hui, Nicki, Ben and me gathered in my living room to play poker cards! There was forfeit for losers. Which were like pumping, sit ups and squats. As I suggest not to gamble money. I ended up had done more than 300 push ups, more than 100 times of sit ups and 250 squats. We played till 11pm and that is for today. Exercise twice in a row.

Reflection
If only Singapore had the land, I bet we can also be like what China is producing right now.
I release that China is a very big country, it is sad to see that they do not use their land wisely, and dispose their waste in a better way.

Day 13 16/3/09

We had APPG in the morning, Mr Ma as lecturer teaches us on chapter 3. We were all focus on what he was trying to teach us. After the lecture we were told to do the lab tutorial 2 and 3. Most of us were struggling at first but manage to do it by today. But still, some of us still don’t really understand on the topic. In the afternoon, we had early released so that the leaders can prepare tonight activities which was to interact with the WUST of students. So we went back to our rooms and play poker cards! For the past 2hours plus, we can actually kept on playing without stopping. Guess we are born to gamble! Well... at 6pm, we head to the teacher’s recreation club the KTV. Thanks to our organisers, we had a lot of fun at there. The local students sang songs, had interactive games. For my group, we went up to sing (an jing) from Jay Zhou. Following performance was my turn! I tried using my martial arts skills to perform though it wasn’t that success as maybe I gain weight and my pants was tight! With everyone support and claps, I manage to finish nicely for them! Lastly, we had a disco party and all of us dance even if we don’t know how to dance. None the less, we took photos with the local students here to have good memories.

Reflection
The local students are very open and very daring whenever they had to act or perform.
After interacting with some of them, they were very friendly are nice persons. They are bright students as after talking to them, they can talk to us about working, studies and future path.

Day 12 15/3/09

We had our breakfast at 7am in the cruise, left the cruise at 7.30am. Finally! We were heading back to our hostel. As usual, we took the bus and sent us back to WUST. Half way back, we stop by at a super mart to get their local products like the biscuits etc. Firstly, I told myself that their local products?! Must be nothing much. But i was wrong man! Their rich crackers are indeed very “shiok” ah! I bought quite a number of it. It feels good to be back our hostels. It is like sort of our “home”. We had a good rest and went out to eat steamboat fish balls again. Guess what? The bill is exactly the same with discount! 100 bucks RMB! We had briefing at night and we told to perform tomorrow for exchange program with the WUST students. So now! See you! I’m going to brainstorm with my buddies on what to perform tomorrow.

Reflection

Their fishballs are very different from local. I realise that we are not surpose to call the waitess "xiao jie" as it means prostitutes.

Day 11 14/3/09

This morning I woke up from my slept in my cabin, it was very freezing. We had our breakfast in the cruise. Though the breakfast wasn’t that nice but still we had to eat to prevent hungry later on. Afterwards, we transfer to a ferry to Sheng Nong Xi. We went there and were told their cultural over there. Those men that row the boat are incredible strong! They were able to row the boat with around 15 passengers on. Sheng Nong Xi was named by a Chinese physician. We ended up getting their souvenirs to support them. Later, we took the same ferry back to our cruise whereby the journey was around 3hours.Had our late lunch in the cruise. All of us were famished; each of us at least took 5bowls of rice with main courses. After 7.30, we arrive at the bi di cheng, the place whereby they exhibit the romance of the three kingdoms. The place was quite creepy with the green lights as their background. After all, it wasn’t that bad to go there. On our way back to cruise, we view the top of us and we saw lots of beautiful stars shinny bright. At night, we chill out in the cruise with friends in one cabin.

Reflection
China is a beautiful country in those remote places. Not to mention their toilet, as their toilet is dirty at any where you get to see toilets in China. With the great history they preserve, it is not an easy job to pass down generations to generations of their history. Compare to our country, they have lots of beautiful place to go as for us, it is nothing much but only a city country.

Day 10 13/3/09

We woke up at 6.30 which is one of the earliest days that we had to wake up. And we quickly pack up our bag for the 3days 3night cruise, and got up the bus on 7.20am.We had breakfast in hostel as it is very rushing. On the way to the three gorgeous, we slept in the bus as we are all not satisfied with our sleep last night. The journey took us about 6 hours. We stop by at the Yi Chang to have our lunch and head to the three gorgeous. Finally, we saw the largest dam in China and the scenery there was beautiful. We took many photos and follow the tour guide as she was explaining how the dams work and history of it. After that, we head back to the restaurant that we had this afternoon. As we were late to broad cruise, we were told to eat as fast as possible. After we abroad the cruise, we accidentally heard that some passengers were unhappy with us as we delay the cruise for an hour odd. We got our rooms and well, it was alright but the main issue is just the toilet. No hot water and it were filthy. We stayed in our cabin and watched how the cruise elevates up. It was truly amazing to see that spectacular moment.

Reflection
To be able to produce this solution from preventing overflowing water in Chang Jiang and to use it to produce electricity, China people are truly clever and efficient. With 26 generators they had, made them the top of the world to produce the electricity. And to prevent other countries to attack, they install anti missile launcher around the dam. This is a win-win situation for as this can produce electricity and control of the water levels; mother nature.

Day 9 12/3/09

This morning was drizzling and the wind was extremely strong which made all of us shivering while walking to our classroom. Thank god! There was heater to warm our class up. Mr Chua goes through the APPG chapter 2. But with the natural chilling air con we had which is the climate; one by one couldn’t resist falling asleep! After lesson we went to eat and went straight back to our rooms and sleep for awhile. Then woke up and go for class again. Boring uh!? That’s life! However, we were release early at 3! But there was reason behind it. We will be interacting with the China students in the evening by playing basketball. Well... At first we were losing behind, but second half match we manage to catch back! Guess what!? I entered the game in half time and was exhausted during the last quarter, but i didn’t give up as I knew NP students still have high hopes in us. Lastly, we won! 50 odd: 40 odd. Not sure if they purposely allow as to win as I am quite sure that we lose to them at the end. None the less, both teams did well though both teams play quite rough. At night, we went out to get some bread for as we are going to cruise tomorrow till Sunday! Night!
Reflection
Nice experience playing with foreign students though there were a lot of fouls.

Day 8 11/3/09

This morning we were all almost late. But more or less, we still manage to get there in time with our breakfast. Was having IS lesson but was damn boring as their presentation are super wordy! Even Mr Chua almost knockout but he didn’t as quickly walk to the back to prevent being hypnotised. After lesson and went back hostel to bathe and sleep for an hour. Till 1.45, we quickly head for class again! As usual, boring IS lesson and Nicki, Stephen group got rejected! That’s damn hilarious as their power point is all packed of words! Till the moment of time 3.41pm, Mr Chua officially declared surrendered! EARLY RELEASE! Ha-ha. We thought it’s a bit too early so we plan to play basketball and soccer. I had scored one for soccer and my team score 5 to 1. LOL! That 1 is Stephen team! Well after playing and very sweaty, we went back to our hostel to bathe again!
At night, we went to the Nan yang fish ball restaurant. Woo! You won’t believe it man! We ate one dish of tofu (Big), one dish of vegetables (Big) and 2 super big soups with 40 odds fish balls in it. Each of us ate at least 3 bowls of rice and I ate 4 bowls. Well for me, it just doesn’t end here, after we had our fish balls, i went to get my tang Yuan which is 8 glutinous balls for 2rmb!!!! After i ate that, we went to bakery shop and get breads and cake. That point of time, i bought 1 cake and i bread! Phew! Right now last man standing is my cake! But it is going to be in my mouth in no time. Alright i shall end here today!

Reflection
When come to china, must have a mindset like me “Just whack only! So cheap! So nice!” as back to Singapore you can’t get this kind of price and food here!

Day 7 10/3/09

Our formal first lesson starts at 9 in the morning which was APPG. Though it is alright not that dry for us but I am not sure why all of us feel so tired. Maybe it is because we still in our holiday mood. We were being explain on how to do the 1a.After 1a, we realised that we need 2008 Microsoft vision studio but all we had in our computer is the 2005.Mr Chua was tried all sort of ways to get the patch or end up have to re install. After lunch, I re install as I come to a conclusion not to wait for the patch and not to waste time as we have wasted some time earlier. Finally, with the 2008 Microsoft Vision studio, we can do our 1b & 1c.At night, we went Kfc for dinner and went to minimart to stock our daily products. What’s more is after we go back to our room and do some practice on APPG as not really familiar.

Reflection
Their computers in the room look prefect but the moment we on the computer and found that there is still a gap between the technology.
We need to have more practice and guiding for APPG as some of us are a bit slow and dim-witted on programming. But still good experience for today!

Day 6 9/3/09

Early in the morning, we had a guest lecturer name Miss Anna xie who introduced us Wuhan and Hubei history, their culture, their foods, their three gorges dam and their beautiful valley. Though it is very dry but we manage to force our eyes to open wide and listen to her.
In the afternoon, we were told to do a summary of what this morning Miss Xie had lectured us. The summary has to be summarised, and add on what she herself said to us information that is not in it. Though we think it is easy. But after doing for so long, we were surprised that we still have half way to go! We were exhausted it took us a long time to finish the summary.
At night, we were gone to the WUST teacher’s recreation club. They have inter karoke hall, table tennis, inter basketball, billiard and even gym which consist of 3 floors. Ngee Ann Polytechnic doesn’t have this facility in 3 floors.

Reflection
Miss Xie spoke fluently English though she is a Chinese. Thus I told myself that she had to speak in English to explain the historical of Wuhan and Hubei so I had to keep my eyes wide open and absorb.

Day 5 8/3/09

Beautiful Sunday! We woke up at 11am! Kind of late as normally we should be awake by 7.We head to play basketball with soccer at 11.30 till 12 odd. Then we went for lunch. You might be wondering why we keep on play basketball or soccer. The true is that, we love sports! We love to play! Whatever sports which can make all of us enjoy together! And to lead a healthy lifestyle! Well... With bunch of friends like I have, you sure have fun! Afternoon, we went back to our rooms to wash our dirty clothes socks etc. No more maids! No washing machines! So here we go! Hands on! After washing, we head out to Wuhan night market. There is mostly sell girl’s stuff. But still, I ended up buying one wallet for mother. We keep on eating where ever we see delicious food at the road side. Oh ya... At that moment of time, we need to go to gents urgently but unfortunately there isn’t any! So we went to an isolated school of wuhan, found a corner where hardly be seen, row of nine of us peeing!!!!! Well it’s is an interesting experience though it is a very unpleasant act to do.

Reflection
I have mastered their culture by banging around! Throwing those unwanted satay sticks and plastic bags on the floor intentionally. (KIDDING) I wanted to say are they having a different culture from us.
Wuhan food sellers can really feed you full just by salt! Their foods are very salty!!!!!
Had Kfc at night, well as my mandarin isn’t that good, I couldn’t pronounce what is on the menu. LOSER UH!? And they told me they didn’t have any Gassy Fanta orange drink, so they gave me a HOT orange juice! VERY HOT! Man...I wonder if they do understand my mandarin.

Day 4 7/3/09

Today is one of the earliest days that we have to wake up as we have to meet at the entrance of the WUST. We head to a East Lake in Wuhan. Each of us has to pay 20RMB for the tramp. 50 minutes of sightseeing at the park. Took some photos and after that we went one of the most top museum in china. The tour guide explain us the about the great history of the china which is very interesting like the Li Bai (the poet) and other more fascinating stories like the kingdoms etc. After our museum we went to popular streets that sell all value price food. Following we head to the yellow crane tower. As usual, we were follow the tour guide with her mandarin explanation, I tried my very best to understand. On our way back to the bus, I bought a back massager for my grandma. At night, all of us were in my room watching MAN U VS FULHAM on live. With hard liquor and biscuits, it last us till the match ended about 3.30am. Score was (4: 0) lastly, all of us went back to sleep.

Reflection
I have expanded my knowledge on the great history of china.
Their museum compared to ours, they had a lot more to display their historical heroes , technology, and ancient objects .

Day 3 6/3/09

We were told to be punctual for lesson today on 9am to 12pm & 2pm to 5pm. So we woke up and head straight to canteen to eat. If we don’t go, someone who is reading this will kick us back to Singapore~! Anyway, we are obedient students so we attend lessons punctual. After our breakfast, we wake to our classroom which took us 12minutes! In class, we were having OIP presentation. And with Mr Chua prediction, luckily we focus on our presentation as Ngee Ann Vice principal and the directors’ drop by to say what they had to say. After 12 we went for basketball! Thanks to Mr Chua and Mr Ma, they bought us 2 basketballs! How kind of them! After a few matches, we head back to our classroom for lesson. We were told to do some photo essay and got to do the body structure of our topic. We head to play basketball again after our lesson! When its night time, I lead my roommates to do 30mins of exercises to be fit!

Reflection
I start to get used to adapt to their environment.
I realise that they have a very bad habit like splitting saliva on the floor and bad habit of litter.

Day 2 5/3/09

A fresh start of the day! We woke up at 7.30, unable to bathe as its too cold and head to canteen for our breakfast. With the buns(bao) and classic soya bean drink, it brings back local dim sim feel.
After our meals, the coordinators guide us around the university and briefing brief us the location. We were also bought to our classroom. We were been given briefing on the schedule on our study and programme activities. After that! Own time own target! We took their public bus to lu han guang chang to get our daily products and shopping! I myself bought a counterfeit Gucci key pouch and shugen bought a fake Louis Vuitton. Oh ya! Their shopping centres are 10 times bigger than vivo man! We shop around and chill around till 7 odd. After having enjoyed at there, we head back to our hostel for report and briefing.

Reflection
China people like to talk loudly on the phone.(maybe is their culture? Or .. ear problems? Or.... they have a nature loudspeaker stored in there adam apple.)
The promoters are very eager to promote their merchandise and they can shout loudly for sales! With their cheerful smile and friendly way to promote their stuff, I believe it is a good way to introduce this manner to our local services.
I learn how to wash my clothes!!!!!
It feels great to live with my friends and talk a lot of nonsense.
Singapore uses EZ-link card, which is way more convenient just need to tap and go. As for China, the moment you got in the bus, the ticket personal would come to collect money from you and issue you a ticket. She will shout here and there in other to collect the money.
As for their shopping malls, they have many different unfamiliar brands shops compared to Singapore. They have Chinese character words shops which we rarely seen any in our orchard road.

Day 1 4/3/09

WHoo! This is what we been looking forward for! Wuhan!!!! The moment we departure there, we took a deep breath. Guess what!? My friends and I told one another “woo.. China FEEL!” . Though it is freezing but we feel great as we rarely have a chance to feel the icy breeze. Without wasting any minute, we took bus to our hostel which is within the WUST. Most of us are asleep while in the bus but Shugen and I were singing all the way as the journey was about 3 hours. We were assigned to our rooms. The moment we enter our rooms, we were like “WA~!” as it was better than what we expected. We unpack our clothes and reorganise to make our room more spaces.
After unpacking our luggage, we head straight to WUST canteen. Guess what?! They have two floors of canteen! With their super value food, it really spellbinds us to eat their food! Negatively, their food is tremendously oily and spicy! But still.... we just have one sentence floating in our mind. “Just eat! Only $1 SIN! Eat till we satisfied!
After our dinner, we straight back to our rooms and get ready for tomorrow. After all, we were all worn-out.

Reflection
Their food is actually very unhealthy unlike local they implemented that we have to eat healthy by requesting for less oil less sugar more vegetables etc.
Temperature at night is much more different from the noon.
They can horn their vehicles like nobody business as they seems very impatient.
Things are very different from Singapore for example their culture and the food.

Learning Plans Assignment 1 (20%)

I want to learn more about their China’s culture and what kind of daily life the citizens of china are living right now. As China is a very huge country with a control of 22province, that doesn’t consider Taiwan as 23province. Soon China economy growth will keep on increasing rapidly and expanding its business. With Huge population, masses industries, plenty of scholars and unrestrained of land, in no time China will be a primary network headquarter, companies will set their headquarters there as land is cheap, investors will also look into it and plan to set up business. I believe China will be a pillar of Asia that support on supplies etc. Therefore I plan to go there and study their culture as I may use it in future on not only business but also gain basic knowledge. They are very good in doing imitation branded products and mass problem, I am wondering how they are so good in it and it is being expanding wide. Wuhan has a lot of universities and university of science and technology rank 7 of the top ten universities which we are going there for exchange program. This will be a good opportunity to explore in China instead spending time in Singapore working.
One issue I am interested to find out is how the political works and how they manage the country compare to Singapore. Second issue is on the global warming. China currently releases carbon dioxide which ranks 1 in whole world. Last year, there is an article state that China will focus on their economic first then comes to global warming. I don’t get it as don’t they understand how damaging it is and the global warming is getting worse. Temperature rise rapidly; ice from the North Pole liquefy which will lead to natural disasters.
I can’t possibly understand everything in a short period over China. Hence I will firstly focus on how to communicate with the local people over there, have estimation ideas on how to work well with China people, observe their style of doing things, and make a comparison with Singapore. Secondly will be their culture, after so many eras they still preserve their traditional culture with great history background. It will be a bonus for us if we happen to need it like to make relationships closers with clients. Thirdly, I want to get to know their technology and those magnificent structures which they created. For example the three gorges dam which control the water level and manipulate the current to use it and produce mass electricity current, mass produce of steel and food; large industries of steel.
I am passionate on their lifestyle in China; find out on the students daily routine, negotiations on how to deal clients in China, their electronics and my hobby martial arts. In Ngee Ann Polytechnic, there are also many China students who are studying .Despite their poor English language, they are still able to handle their studies, and score well in exams. Discover more on their famous martial arts to upgrade further.
3 global skills that I want to acquire are negotiation, business etiquette, strategy on business. Negotiation so that I am able to get able deals and expand my network though clients. Learn business etiquette to prevent misunderstanding and to present well of myself as an image of company. Strategy so that I know am at a loss, advantage side or win-win situation. I’m sure these 3 skills will greatly help me in future.
I have do research on Wuhan by using internet, watched their opening Olympics 2008 programmes. Hopefully these may do some help and I am expected to learn more in China.
